The
Competencies for Performance Improvement Professionals in Public Health (PI Competencies) will be featured at the
Open Forum for Quality Improvement and Innovation (Open Forum) this March in Kansas City, Missouri. Attending Open Forum and interested in learning more? Join performance improvement (PI) experts from the
Public Health Foundation (PHF) for
Building Performance Improvement Skills to Support Public Health, an interactive workshop focused on the PI Competencies. During this workshop on Friday, March 27 from 9-10:15am CDT, we will introduce the PI Competencies and explore priorities, strategies, and resources to support implementation of these competencies to enhance workforce development opportunities for PI professionals.
Based on the
Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies) and the
Core Competencies for Performance Improvement Managers, the PI Competencies are a set of skills desirable for PI professionals working in public health. These competencies were developed to offer additional guidance in PI for public health professionals with responsibilities related to quality improvement (QI), performance management, workforce development, accreditation readiness, or community health assessment and improvement planning. The PI Competencies can be used along with the Core Competencies to help support the activities and growth of PI professionals.
Looking for opportunities to strengthen your knowledge and skills in QI, performance management, and other areas of the PI Competencies?
PHF will be offering a second interactive workshop focused on Using QI Tools to Foster Innovation. This workshop will take place on Thursday, March 26 from 10:45am-12pm CDT and will offer practice with QI tools that help foster new ideas and approaches to current practice that will improve processes, outcomes, and customer experiences. Participants will leave ready to re-engage teams in creative thinking and will practice at least three beyond-the-basics QI tools to energize teams and support QI.
PHF will also have copies of the PI Competencies and other QI, performance management, and workforce development resources at its exhibitor table and will be available to answer your questions. Connect with us in Kansas City or get in touch with me by email at
