Public health practice and academic organizations rely on the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies) to guide their workforce development efforts. To ensure that the Core Competencies stay current with developments in the field of public health and continue to meet the needs of the workforce, the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) regularly reviews and revises the Core Competencies.
The most recent review and revision of the Core Competencies began in October 2020 and concluded with adoption of the 2021 version of the Core Competencies on October 21, 2021.
