Services include:

Advanced Tools of Quality Improvement

This training helps participants learn how to use advanced tools of QI to synthesize large amounts of information, identify critical areas to focus on, and guide the decision making process at the strategic level. Exercises provide an opportunity to both learn about and practice using various advanced tools.

Assessing Leadership Culture

It is important to understand the role of agency leadership and the impact of agency culture in developing a robust quality infrastructure and performance management system. This interactive training focuses on assessing current culture, building trust for change, understanding constructive conflict, building commitment for change, and rationale for accountability.

Coaching, Facilitation, and Teaming Skills Tune-up

Effectively coaching, facilitating, and managing QI activities are important for an agency to achieve desired improvement results, improve processes, and improve customer satisfaction. This facilitation and teaming tune-up helps an agency improve QI coaching, facilitation, and teaming dynamics to support and strengthen QI practice and adds new tools to help rejuvenate in-house QI experts and practitioners.

Designing Innovations in Public Health Practice

This interactive workshop helps to create conditions for individuals and teams to change their thinking to foster public health innovation. Innovation involves deliberate application of information, imagination, and initiative. This workshop functions as an innovation lab, offering practice with quality improvement tools that help foster new ideas and approaches to current practices that will improve processes, outcomes, and customer experiences.

Getting the Most from Limited Clinical Service Dollars: Using Quality Improvement in Your Clinic Settings

Public health clinical services have long been a healthcare safety net for the underserved and at-risk populations in communities. Due to dwindling or stagnate resources, public health agencies are having to do more with less. This training teaches how to apply QI methods and tools to public health clinical services with a focus on helping the agency more effectively use resourcesUsing QI has been demonstrated to improve service delivery and customer service, as well as help meet grant requirements and nationally recognized best practice standards.

Introduction to Quality Improvement

Learn about the QI process, focusing on the history, tools, and methodologies for a successful QI program. This training also addresses the basic tools of QI that help improvement teams achieve measurable results.

Mapping Solutions with Population Health Driver Diagrams

This technical assistance service will help a community develop a driver diagram, implement actions, measure progress, and work to develop improvement. Creating the population health driver diagram and determining actions that will address a community health challenge both require engaging individuals and organizations in the community with expertise related to the health challenge and the ability to take action to address the health challenge. This service requires advance remote consultation, data gathering, team selection, and discussions prior to and following one or more onsite visits.

Preparing a Quality Plan

This interactive service is designed to help your organization define improvement areas, prioritize improvement actions, control and align the improvement process, and develop a living quality plan document. The intended outcome is to create a customer-centric plan that hardwires continuous improvement throughout the agency’s quality plan.

Quality Improvement Tune-up

Keeping QI deeply embedded in an organization can be a challenge. Often an organization’s greatest QI capacity rests with a few dynamic individuals. High turnover can create a persistent risk of losing QI capacity and momentum. This training will help your agency analyze current practices, close the gaps, and introduce new tools to help rejuvenate current in-house QI experts.

Rapid Cycle Innovation Using Kaizen

PHF will facilitate a Kaizen event for your agency. Kaizen is Japanese for “improvement” or “change for the better.” This service enables an organization to analyze and improve a troubled process over a brief, intensive period, during which participants learn the Kaizen approach and process improvement tools. The process begins with a pre-workshop webinar to introduce concepts and prepare for the event. This is followed by a facilitated onsite change process and strategies for communicating about the change. This technical assistance uses Kaizen Process Improvement Tools designed by PHF. It also builds on the concepts in PHF’s free online book, Modular Kaizen: Dealing with Disruptions.

SHIP/CHIP Tune-up

Managing the process to develop and implement a State Health Improvement Plan or a Community Health Improvement Plan (SHIP/CHIP) is important for any agency engaging in this process. To realize the desired improvement results, it is important for the agency to involve community partners throughout the process. In many instances, community partners may see the SHIP/CHIP as the domain of government – just a planning process that they endure every few years. If the SHIP/CHIP is not well-managed and regularly tuned up, it loses momentum, becomes irrelevant to the community, and falls to the wayside.

Train-the-Trainer in Quality Improvement and Quality Improvement with Project Launch

This multi-day onsite workshop or series of half-day remote sessions provides participants with the tools and techniques to be successful in the implementation and expansion of QI in their agencies. PHF will assist the agency in selecting QI teams and projects and provide training and coaching for individuals and the teams, with the goal being significant progress or completion of QI projects during a six-to-eight-week period. A final session will focus on techniques for teaching QI to others in the agency. PHF also offers Quality Improvement with Project Launch, which contains similar content, but excludes the final session focused on teaching techniques.
