The National Association of Local Boards of Health (NALBOH) will be holding its Annual conference on July 31-August 2, 2023 in Tacoma, WA. NALBOH informs, guides, and serves as the national voice for boards of health and strives to strengthen good governance where public health begins, at the local level.

Description: This session will focus on what we know about why people choose to work in governmental public
health, why they choose to leave, and what can be done to improve our ability to effectively recruit and retain
employees. Boards of health can play an instrumental role in many areas affecting recruitment and retention, such as
the hiring process, career paths, compensation, and much more. During this session, current and historical data will be presented as well as potential solutions to consider in recruitment and retention of the workforce for today and
tomorrow.
