​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Open Forum: Next Gene​ration (NxGen), presented by the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI), will be held September 27-29, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana. ​Open Forum: NxGen provides public health practitioners an opportunity to learn and engage with peers around critical topics currently facing both the public health and the healthcare workforce. The conference establishes a learning continuum that strengthens the capacity for practitioners to respond to future public health needs and provides skills and resources to bolster the new generation of public health workers.​

This year's theme is "​​​Transforming Public Health for a Resilient Future: Equipping and Empowering our Workforce to Advance Health Equity," ​and will feature​ four learning tracks:​

Description: Workforce development is essential to ensuring public health agencies have the capacity to adequately serve their communities. The importance of workforce development is recognized by the Public Health Accreditation Board, which has included workforce development within the national accreditation standards and measures for health departments. One important tool in identifying health department core competencies for workforce development planning is the 2021 Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies). Learn the latest on resources and tools available to support implementing the Core Competencies in workforce development and training efforts.
