Academic health department (AHD) partnerships – formal partnerships between health departments and academic institutions – have the potential to offer all organizations involved a variety of benefits. The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice and the Public Health Foundation hosted a webinar on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 from 2-3pm EDT to explore building AHD partnerships in rural areas. Lisa Macon Harrison, MPH, Health Director for Granville Vance Public Health in North Carolina, joined the webinar to share her health department’s experiences developing an AHD partnership in a rural area with the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health and the impact this partnership is having for her organization, and responded to questions and discussion from webinar participants.
