Academic Health Departments and the AHD Learning Community Webinar Meeting (May 23rd)

Category: Focus Area

Related Categories: Council on Linkages, Workforce Development

Location: Webinar

Start Date: 5/23/2013

End Date: 5/23/2013

This 90 minute webinar meeting will introduce participants to academic health departments and the Academic Health Department Learning Community. An academic health department (AHD) is formed by the formal affiliation of a health department and an academic institution, enhancing collaboration in the areas of education and training, research, and service delivery. The AHD Learning Community, a national initiative of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice, supports the development, maintenance, and expansion of AHDs by bringing public health professionals together for collaborative learning, knowledge sharing, and resource development.

During this meeting, basic elements of AHDs will be described and benefits associated with putting this concept into practice will be discussed. Participants will also learn more about the AHD Learning Community’s role in supporting AHDs and how to become involved in Learning Community activities. Time for discussion will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring questions and share their own experiences.

The meeting is open to both current and prospective members of the AHD Learning Community. Public health practitioners, educators, and researchers interested in exploring the AHD concept and connecting with other professionals active in this area are welcome to attend.
