The Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), in partnership with the Public Health Foundation, is hosting a webinar designed to help attendees advance accountability and performance management in their public health departments. This session, Operationalizing Performance Management in a Health Department​​taking place on May 21, 2025 from 2-3pm EDT, will equip participants with practical insights and strategies that can be immediately applied to effectively operationalize performance management (PM). The webinar is the second of two in a series about advancing performance management in a public health agency.


Attendees will learn:

  • The system infrastructure that is required for a performance management system
  • The importance of prioritizing and selecting meaningful measures
  • How to begin to develop a PM system to help guide operational and strategic planning and decision-making
  • Incorporating strategic planning, workforce development, and quality planning efforts into the PM system
  • The foundational elements of a PM/QI culture and process for assessing a health department's culture
  • The development of PM council or committee to support the PM system
  • The implementation and monitoring of a PM system
  • The use of a PM Excel spreadsheet to begin the development of goals, objectives, and supporting measures.
