Workshop Description:

Participants of this interactive workshop will obtain knowledge to apply quality improvement (QI) principles, processes, and tools to better support QI efforts within their divisions, offices, and programs. The Plan‑Do‑Check‑Act (PDCA) cycle will be discussed along with ways to apply practical QI tools to analyze workflows, understand customer needs, and identify improvement opportunities. Through guided activities, examples, and discussion, participants will build the skills needed to initiate and support QI projects and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

Apply quality improvement (QI) principles and approaches to public health practice to strengthen programs, processes, and outcomes.
Apply the Plan‑Do‑Check‑Act (PDCA) approach and QI methods to plan, test, and refine improvements in public health settings.
Evaluate public health processes using QI tools to determine if improvement is needed and identify opportunities for change.
Describe how performance management and QI contribute to performance improvement efforts within an organization.
