Advancing the public health workforce to achieve organizational excellence
2015 TAC Annual Meeting Scheduled to be Held in Santa Fe, New Mexico

Topic: TRAIN, Workforce Development

Date: 12/4/2014

The TRAIN Affiliate Consortium (TAC) Annual Meeting is an invitation-only conference and workshop that provides opportunities for learning professionals in public health and healthcare to share knowledge and experiences, and to exchange information and resources about public health and healthcare training, education, and preparedness. TAC is comprised of 28 TRAIN affiliates, 25 states and 3 national organizations that have a customized TRAIN portal. The theme for this year’s meeting is “How to TRAIN Effectively.”  Topics that will be discussed include: describing how TRAIN — the nation’s premier learning management network for professionals and volunteers who protect the public’s health —  can be used in global public health emergencies, using “one time funding” wisely, demonstrating best practices of course creation and 508 compliance, explaining how TRAIN can support health departments with their public health accreditation activities, and computer training on TRAIN. The full, draft conference agenda can be downloaded by clicking the "Download this File" link in the green box above.

Last year’s TAC Meeting at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was one of the most successful and well-attended thus far, with over 60 attendees from both affiliate and non-affiliate states and organizations. This year’s three-day meeting will take place on April 28– 30, 2015 in Santa Fe, New Mexico and we expect it will be an even greater success.  The meeting is sponsored by the Public Health Foundation (PHF) and TRAIN’s IT vendor Knowledge Management Interactive (KMI), and hosted by the New Mexico Department of Health.

PHF invites outside organizations and agencies  that ensure public health and healthcare preparedness, training, and education to contact us ([email protected]) to request a conference invitation. If your organization or agency is interested in attending the 2015 TAC Annual Meeting, please contact PHF’s TRAIN Team by March 6, 2015 and include your name, title, agency or organization, and why you wish to attend. Conference capacity is limited and we cannot guarantee that all requests will be approved.  If you would like to learn more about the benefits of becoming a part of the TRAIN Affiliate Consortium please contact the PHF-TRAIN Team to explore how your agency or organization can join this dynamic training community.
