​Congratulations to the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) on becoming the newest member of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages).  Council on Linkages members recently voted in favor of APHL’s petition for preliminary membership.  As a preliminary member, APHL will be eligible to vote at Council on Linkages meetings and participate in all Council on Linkages activities. APHL’s representative, Jack DeBoy, DrPH is Director at Maryland State Public Health Laboratory and has over 30 years experience in the public health field.
 
About APHL
APHL is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening laboratories with a public health mandate. APHL has approximately 800 members representing state and local public health laboratories, governmental environmental and food safety laboratories, and individuals who have an interest in public health laboratory science and practice. Goal 1 of APHL’s strategic plan for 2010-2013 is to “Advance the training, leadership development, recruitment and retention of a competent workforce to meet the needs of the public health laboratory system” which is in concert with the work of the Council on Linkages.
