AHD Webinar Series: How Academic Health Department Partnerships Support Recruitment and Retention Archive Now Available 

Partnerships between health departments and academic institutions enhance the capacity of the organizations involved and offer a variety of benefits, such as placements for students and recruitment and retention of staff. Now Available: Rebuilding the Public Health Workforce Meeting Excerpt

The Council on Linkages continues to focus on rebuilding the public health workforce. During its September meeting, Meghan Wolfe, Associate Director of Capacity Building and Technical Assistance for the National Coordinating Center for Public Health Training at the National Network of Public Health Institutes, provided information on activities being undertaken through the Public Health Infrastructure Grant program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, Liza Corso, MPA, Senior Public Health Advisor, Office of Program Strategy and Accountability with the National Center for State, Tribal, Local, and Territorial Public Health Infrastructure and Workforce, discussed the CDC’s new Public Health Infrastructure Center. Access excerpts of this meeting to learn more about these important activities.

The American Public Health Association (APHA) will be holding its 2023 Annual Meeting & Expo on November 12-15, 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. This year's theme is "Creating the Healthiest Nation: Overcoming Social and Ethical Challenges." Join PHF for a Council on Linkages session co-sponsored by the Academic-Practice Caucus on Strengthening the Public Health Workforce as well as a session on Academic Practice Partnerships. Registration is open until November 15, 2023. Visit the meeting webpage to learn more about the Council on Linkages Sessions.

Workshop abstracts are now being accepted for the 2024 Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT). PHIT has opportunities to connect in-person and virtually to learn more about public health improvement and connect with peers amongst the public health workforce. Submit your workshop abstract by November 15th!


Join us in person May 20-21 in New Orleans, LA and virtually June 3-5. All content offered at the in-person Mini PHIT will also be offered during the virtual PHIT.
