Do You Employ New Public Health Graduates? Changes Are on the Horizon!
The Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), the accrediting body for schools and programs of public health, produces accreditation criteria for schools of public health, programs of public health, and standalone baccalaureate programs. CEPH is in the midst of one of the most significant changes in decades to the curricula for Master of Public Health students. Proposed changes to the accreditation criteria have been made in response to years of feedback from employers and graduates about knowledge and skills needed in the public health workforce of today and in the future, and draw on a variety of initiatives in the public health field, including the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals. CEPH has released a draft of its proposed criteria revisions for public review and is accepting comments through Friday, January 8, 2016. Comments from practitioners, educators, and other members of the public health community are welcome. Read the recent PHF Pulse Blog post by CEPH Executive Director Laura Rasar King, MPH, MCHES, for more information about the revision, specific questions to consider when reviewing the draft criteria, and how to submit feedback. |
