Council on Linkages Releases Recruitment and Retention Survey Report
The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) is pleased to release a new report, Recruitment and Retention: What's Influencing the Decisions of Public Health Workers?, which helps shed light on questions of recruitment and retention within the US public health workforce. This report summarizes results of a survey conducted by the Council on Linkages' Pipeline Workgroup in 2010 as part of an effort to explore ways to strengthen the public health workforce by better understanding how public health workers enter the workforce, their rationale for doing so, and what influences their decisions to continue working in public health. Completed by nearly 12,000 individuals, the survey considered factors that influence individuals' decisions to take and remain in jobs in the public health field, as well as their satisfaction with elements of the environments in which they work, including organizational leadership, management, and professional development. Council on Linkages Strategic Directions Refresh Underway
Following the January 2016 meeting of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages), work was begun to refresh the Council on Linkages' Strategic Directions to ensure the work of the Council on Linkages continues to meet ongoing and emerging needs within the public health community. Council on Linkages staff are currently in the process of meeting with each Council on Linkages member organization to determine priorities for Council on Linkages work for the next five years, and thank all members for their engagement in this process. Input from these discussions will inform development of the Strategic Directions, 2016-2020, a final version of which is anticipated early this summer. Questions about the Strategic Directions or the refresh process may be sent to Kathleen Amos at [email protected]. |
