October 15-18, 2024

Join the Public Health Foundation (PHF) next week for the 2024 Public Health Learning Forum! This year’s meeting will be held virtually, with the theme "Workforce Development In Action." Sessions will focus on training and tools to support public health workforce development and build governmental public health workforce capacity. Explore topics such as the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals, academic health department partnerships, workforce capacity assessments, and more. The meeting is free, and all are welcome. Visit the 2024 Public Health Learning Forum site on the TRAIN Learning Network to preview meeting content and register.

Strengthening Advocacy Skills Within the Public Health Workforce

Advocacy is a critical skill as the public health field continues to focus on rebuilding the workforce in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in preparation for the future. However, studies show that public health professionals may be underprepared to engage in advocacy. To support the public health workforce in developing advocacy skills, the Public Health Foundation and the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice recently endorsed the Public Health Advocacy Consensus Task Force, a collaborative effort to define advocacy, identify key advocacy skills, and draft guidance for public health schools and programs teaching advocacy. Learn more about this exciting initiative.
