The
Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) convened on March 28, 2011 for a day-long strategic planning session. During the session, the Council on Linkages reflected on its
accomplishments to date, explored the environment in which it operates, discussed values, reviewed its
mission, and focused on developing objectives and strategies to guide its work. By the end of the day, the Council on Linkages had outlined four draft objectives: fostering collaboration; enhancing practice-oriented education and training; supporting development and retention of a competent public health workforce; and promoting and strengthening collaborative research.
As a next step, Council on Linkages
members will recieve an initial draft of the new objectives and strategies and have the opportunity to provide feedback and suggest tactical initiatives for achieving Council on Linkages objectives in the next 3 to 5 years.
Council on Linkages Business MeetingOn March 29, 2011 the Council on Linkages met to discuss business matters. During the meeting, the Council on Linkages was apprized of current CDC and HRSA initiatives and opportunities for Council on Linkages engagement. In addition, reports were given on the status of Council on Linkages projects and new avenues for Council on Linkages involvement.
