TRAIN Partners with HRSA to Develop Unified Health Communication Online Training |
| An innovative partnership between PHF and the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) has led to the development of an online training focusing on cross-cultural communication - Unified Health Communication (UHC). This course aims to improve provider-receiver relationships and ensure effective communication by building skills in health literacy, cultural competency, and limited English proficiency.
UHC is deployed through TRAIN (https://www.train.org) PHF's web-based learning management network developed in 2003 in response to state requests for training that would efficiently prepare the public health workforce. Over 16,000 professionals, including future public health and medical leaders studying toward their respective degrees and current professionals seeking to renew licensures, have already registered for UHC. Submit your story for contest consideration via e-mail to [email protected]. Submissions may be made as a completed five-question contest entry form (click cancel if prompted for a password) or text document of no more than two pages. The top three entrants will be awarded a scholarship (up to $1,000) to be used towards attendance at a national public health conference in 2011. Community Guide Widget
PHF has developed a Community Guide widget, a mini-web application that pulls information from linked social media profiles. It can be embedded in a web page to quickly and easily provide visitors with Community Guide information and enable engagement. The widget highlights Community Guide findings and recommendations, provides information on how organizations have successfully implemented the evidence-based strategies outlined in the Community Guide, and provides updates on Community Guide promotional activities.
This free application will be available for download to your organization's web page or social media profile to communicate the value of the Community Guide to stakeholders and help them improve the health of their community.
