The January 27th
Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) conference call meeting will focus on how Council on Linkages member organizations are currently promoting the
Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community and use of the
Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies), and how they plan to do so in the future. This discussion aims to help the Council on Linkages identify effective ways to promote both use of the Core Competencies and participation in the AHD Learning Community among public health professionals. The information gathered will inform the Council on Linkages as it develops its Competencies to Practice Toolkit, a set of tools to assist practitioners in using the Core Competencies to advance workforce development efforts and improve performance, and works to expand the AHD Learning Community.
Additionally, the meeting will include a discussion on enhancing communication. In developing its
strategic directions last year, the Council on Linkages identified communication as an
administrative priority. The Council on Linkages uses a variety of communication methods including updating its website with news articles and blog posts, writing an approximately monthly
Council on Linkages Update newsletter, attending and presenting at conferences, and tweeting as
@thephf. The Council on Linkages is eager to hear feedback on its communication strategies, as well as suggestions for improving communication, particularly based on strategies Council on Linkages member organizations have found effective in their own communication efforts.
The Council on Linkages meeting will be held via conference call on Friday, January 27, 2012 from 1:00-2:30 pm EST. To join the meeting, please call
