 PHF Offers Resources That Aid in
Cold and Flu Prevention 

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released a report stating that flu season is off to the earliest start since 2003 - making prevention efforts extremely important.  

Public Health Foundation (PHF) offers many resources, including hand hygiene, Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work, and influenza immunization resources to help aid in these prevention efforts.

Hand Hygiene PosterProper hand hygiene is the best way to prevent outbreaks and transmission of the cold and flu and reduce overall infection rates in your health department or facility. 


Use the CDC's hand hygiene poster and button package to 
remind personnel of the importance of washing hands regularly. Place the Clean Hands Save Lives poster throughout your facility to convey your commitment to clean hands and patient safety, and wear the Hand Hygiene Saves Lives button as a constant reminder to practice appropriate hand hygiene.

Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work Campaign Resources

 

The CDC's Get Smart: Know When Antibiotics Work campaign aims to reduce the rise of antibiotic resistance by educating patients and providers on the appropriate use of antibiotics. 


The
Antibiotics Aren't Always the Answer poster and Antibiotics Aren't Always the Answer brochure, new campaign resources, explain six simple and smart facts about antibiotic use including: 
1. Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections.
2. Antibiotics are life-saving drugs.
 
Use these materials in a physician's office, clinic, health department, or healthcare facility. 
 
Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases, 12th Edition,
2nd Printing 
"The Pink Book"
 
"The Pink Book", developed by the CDC, offers comprehensive immunization information on diseases such as influenza, pertussis, and rotavirus. Use it to find pertinent information on:
       1. Immunization strategies for providers.
       2. Vaccine safety.
                                           3. Child/adult immunization schedules.
 

2013 "I'm Your Community Guide!" Contest
