The Indian Health Council has taken new measures to help prevent under aged drinking within the La Jolla Band of Luisenos Indians tribal community. Funded by the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism and the National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities, this is a grant to support research aimed at reducing and evaluating under aged drinking among tribal youth. In efforts to spread the message, a new billboard was added to a main highway close to the La Jolla Band community which reads “Keep Your Dreams Alive. Don’t Drink and Drive.” For more details about the tribal youth prevention program, click here.
