The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice hosted the first Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community meeting on Wednesday. The meeting was held via conference call and more than 30 public health professionals, both academics and practitioners, participated. Meeting attendees actively debated elements important to the definition and implementation of AHDs, and two presenters, Amy Lee of the Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy and Louise Kent of the Northern Kentucky Health Department, engaged the group in a discussion about approaches to building AHD relationships.

The AHD Learning Community serves as a platform for shared exploration of the AHD concept, facilitating collaborative learning among academics and public health practitioners interested in the AHD model. It’s not too late to join! If you would like more information or to connect with colleagues in the AHD Learning Community, please contact Kathleen Amos at kamos@phf.org.
