Academic Health Department Mentorship Program Set to Launch 

Hands Together As the summer kicks off, the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) is preparing to launch its newest activity - an Academic Health Department (AHD) Mentorship Program. Developed within the existing AHD Learning Community, the AHD Mentorship Program aims to foster the development, maintenance, and expansion of AHDs by creating ongoing mentoring relationships between individuals involved in AHD efforts. Find opportunities to get involved and volunteer for the program.

 

Foundations of Public Health Preparedness Training Plan Launches
 
TRAIN E-Book Foundations of Public Health Preparedness, a national training plan, is now available through TRAIN, the premier learning network for professionals and volunteers who protect the nation's health. Jointly launched by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response (OPHPR) Learning Office and the Public Health Foundation (PHF), the training plan is designed to improve your skills in public health preparedness and response. If you missed the introductory webinar, you can now view Training for Results: Preparedness and Emergency Response Core Competency-Based Training on TRAIN.

 

PHF Leads Performance Improvement Training Workshops at PHIT 2015

Hundreds of performance improvement professionals gathered in New Orleans for the Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT) on June 9-10, 2015. Sonja Armbruster, Quality Improvement Expert and Kathleen Amos, Workforce Development Expert at PHF, delivered workshops in performance management, quality improvement, workforce development, and strategic planning to more than 200 attendees, providing them with practical guidance to meet individual and organizational objectives. Get a snapshot of some of the tools used in this year's training workshops for immediate use in your health department.

 

TRAIN Affiliates and Partners Meet for 2015 TAC Annual Meeting

In late April, the 2015 TRAIN Affiliate Consortium (TAC) Annual Meeting brought together over 50 public health and healthcare professionals to discuss workforce development and TRAIN, the nation's premier learning management network for professionals and volunteers who protect the public's health. The meeting was sponsored by PHF and TRAIN's IT partner Knowledge Management Interactive (KMI), and hosted by the New Mexico Department of Health in Santa Fe. PHF to Feature Resources and Expertise at NACCHO Annual 2015
 
The National Association of County & City Health Officials (NACCHO) will hold its NACCHO Annual 2015 event in Kansas City, MO from July 7-9, 2015. PHF will be conducting two pre-conference workshops and one sharing session, and displaying many resources and tools for public health professionals in health departments and other organizations to provide valuable guidance in performance management, quality improvement (QI), and workforce development.
