Collection of Resources Supporting High Quality Training Grows with Launch of Repository of Evaluation Tools

With this month's launch of Evaluating Emergency Preparedness and Response Trainings: A Knowledge Repository, PHF adds one more resource to a growing collection of materials for developing, accessing, and evaluating public health training. Built in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) Office of Public Health Preparedness and Response, this online repository provides one-stop access to evaluation tools developed by the CDC-funded Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Centers (PERLC). It is designed to serve as a guide and framework to promote evidence-based evaluations of trainings and learning products, with a particular focus on emergency preparedness and response, and measure their impact toward improving workforce readiness. Explore the repository and other resources to support high quality training efforts.

Webinar: Practical Application of the Updated PHAB Guide

In June 2015, the Board of Directors of the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) adopted a new Guide to National Public Health Department Initial Accreditation (PHAB Guide). While the overall process for accreditation has not changed, there are several new and revised policies that health departments working toward accreditation need to understand. PHF and PHAB are co-hosting a webinar to address these important changes, most of which went into effect earlier this year on February 1. The webinar will be held on August 17, 2016, from 1-2:30pm ET. Titled "Practical Application of the Updated PHAB Guide," this webinar will help participants learn about what has changed in the accreditation process and how to apply a performance improvement mindset to the accreditation preparation process. Register today.

Answering Your Questions about Using The Community Guide for Community Health Improvement

In late March 2016, PHF, in collaboration with CDC and ACHI/Health Research & Educational Trust (HRET), hosted a webinar focused on The Guide to Community Preventive Services (The Community Guide) and how it can support community health improvement efforts. With nearly 300 people who attended the webinar, numerous questions and comments about to The Community Guide and the related resources were submitted to complement the live online discussion. Read the answers to your questions to get the most out of these important community health improvement resources in the PHF Pulse Blog.

Webinar: Practical Approaches for Zika Preparedness and Response

Join PHF and the Bio-Defense Network on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 from 1-2pm ET for a webinar focused on preparedness and response to the Zika Virus. The webinar will include information and resources from two local health departments who are addressing mosquito surveillance and control. They will share what practical and replicable efforts they are carrying out in their communities to prepare for and respond to Zika. Quality improvement methods and processes such as self-assessments, project plans, and the Vector Control Population Health Driver Diagram will also be shared. Register today.
