The Public Health Foundation (PHF) has partnered with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to promote awareness, adoption, and use of
The Guide to Community Preventive Services, also known as
The Community Guide. This free, evidence-based resource covers 18 health topics, including alcohol and tobacco, obesity, violence, cancer, and diabetes; identifies interventions for behavior change, disease prevention, and environmental change; and suggests where more research is needed. It is based on the findings of the Task Force on Community Preventive Services, an independent, nonfederal, volunteer body of public health and prevention experts, whose members are appointed by the Director of CDC.
To engage you in a conversation about The Community Guide, PHF will bring you daily updates and suggest new ways to incorporate The Community Guide’s findings and recommendations in your community. PHF is developing widgets, mini web-based applications, for you to place on your websites, as well as creating social media profiles on Facebook and Twitter for a continuous dialogue about evidence-based strategies.
Share your success story! PHF is also pleased to announce the “I’m Your Community Guide!” contest, which will provide you a chance to share how your organization has used The Community Guide to improve the health of your community. All submissions will have a chance to win various prizes; begin thinking about your story today! Contest planning is currently underway; more information will be available soon.
