PHF approached New Mexico and South Carolina as demonstration sites for the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Quality Improvement (QI) pilot project.  Each site expressed interest and enthusiasm for the project.   When sharing his excitement, one senior health official stated that this project fits well with his program needs and future improvement plans.   Sites are at different levels, but both will form a QI team and receive training and technical assistance from a PHF QI Consultant.  The goal of the demonstration project is to strengthen program performance, increase program efficiency, and improve health outcomes by enhancing program capacity and integrating the use of performance management (PM) system concepts and quality improvement (QI) tools and techniques into STD prevention.
