Advancing the public health workforce to achieve organizational excellence
The Local Health Department TRAIN Affiliate Subscription

Currently, TRAIN is comprised of over 30 affiliate sites, which include 27 states, three national organizations - the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) - and three not-for-profit organizations.

As a network, these affiliates advance TRAIN steadily as one of the nation’s most widely utilized learning management networks. With more than 2.5 million registered learners, TRAIN is the largest online learning resource for professionals who protect the public’s health. However, TRAIN isn’t everywhere and many local health departments (LHDs) and other local agencies may need a resource to assist in staff training and workforce development efforts.

Now, local health departments can also become TRAIN affiliates and take advantage of the benefits of joining the TRAIN network.

As a Local Health Department Affiliate subscriber, you can…

  • Access thousands of courses and trainings
  • Direct staff to complete competency-based training
  • Report on workforce knowledge and skills
  • Conserve funds to meet budgets
  • Share resources, trainings, and materials with other health departments
  • Identify gaps in workforce training
  • Post tailored announcements to staff and local populations
  • Develop custom tests and evaluations
  • Disseminate surveys

One of the other benefits of becoming a local health department affiliate is that TRAIN can also be used as a tool to support your health department's Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) accreditation application.

Since local health departments differ in the populations they serve, interested organizations are welcome to download the Terms & Conditions on this page to review the local health department affiliate subscription.

If your local health department is interested in TRAIN, please complete the TRAIN inquiry form.
