Overview

Many public health departments and organizations require competency-based training for their workforce. As a result, the Public Health Preparedness and Response Core Competency Model and the Public Health Preparedness Capabilities have been integrated into TRAIN. Benefits of the Competencies and Capabilities include:

  • providing a national framework for competency-based training;
  • measuring emergency preparedness and response performance standards;
  • assuring learners that they are receiving the appropriate training to satisfy
  • workforce development needs;
  • developing annual and long-term preparedness plans;
  • guiding preparedness strategies and investments;
  • supporting data that can be used to analyze course development needs; and
  • strengthening public health infrastructure.
