Many public health departments and organizations require competency-based training for their workforce. As a result, the Public Health Preparedness and Response Core Competency Model and the Public Health Preparedness Capabilities have been integrated into TRAIN. Benefits of the Competencies and Capabilities include:
- providing a national framework for competency-based training;
- measuring emergency preparedness and response performance standards;
- assuring learners that they are receiving the appropriate training to satisfy
- workforce development needs;
- developing annual and long-term preparedness plans;
- guiding preparedness strategies and investments;
- supporting data that can be used to analyze course development needs; and
- strengthening public health infrastructure.
