The Solvability and Control Matrix explores and assesses process problems to determine which can be easily solved and which should be brought to a quality improvement (QI) team for consideration. By exploring the solvability and control of the problem, program staff can determine next steps when struggling with a process problem. Developed by Public Health Foundation (PHF) Senior Quality Advisor
Jack Moran and Performance Improvement Specialist Julie Sharp, the Solvability and Control Matrix can be useful for performance improvement professionals in guiding program staff toward increased use of QI.
The Solvability and Control Matrix is currently in draft form, and PHF is inviting feedback from health professionals that have worked in QI or are interested in learning about QI. Feedback will be accepted through April 15, 2018, and PHF will incorporate feedback into the next version of the tool, to be released later this spring.
