Nine Windows
The Nine Windows tool provides an opportunity to look at a problem or issue through nine different lenses, challenges teams to think across time (past, present, future) and space (supersystem, system, subsystem) to identify improvement opportunities. This broader perspective helps when teams are struggling to see beyond the current state.
Developed by Public Health Foundation (PHF) quality improvement experts Jack W. Moran and Sonja Armbruster, Nine Windows allows a team to analyze an issue at the micro and macro levels simultaneously.
