Public Health Foundation (PHF) will be presenting at the 2013 Public Health Services and Systems Research (PHSSR) Keeneland Conference being held April 8-11 in Lexington, Kentucky. The conference will focus on examining questions related to the management, organization, financing, and staffing of the public health system and building the evidence base for public health decision-making.
With over 650,000 registered learners, and 29,000 courses coming from more than 4,000 providers of training, TRAIN’s database can be used to learn about the current public health workforce skills/competence, the way the workforce is trained, and the overall capacity of the public health workforce. Information about the public health workforce can be used to both guide and answer questions relevant to PHSSR. In addition, the TRAIN community and the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages), which is staffed by PHF, can help investigators to the field of Public Health Services and Systems Research (PHSSR) understand priority workforce research needs and how the TRAIN database can be used for PHSSR.
Public Health Workforce Training & Education Data: Improving Access for Researchers through TRAIN
If you are interested in learning more about TRAIN and PHSSR, join the TRAIN Team on April 10th at 10:45 am in meeting room Thoroughbred 3A (Technology & Data III) at the Keeneland Conference in Lexington, Kentucky for an informational session on “Public Health Workforce Training & Education Data: Improving Access for Researchers through TRAIN.” This session will explore how TRAIN’s tailored datasets and the TRAIN Data Dictionary provide researchers with access to high-quality data on the public health workforce in order to further the objectives of PHSSR.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate how the TRAIN learning management system expands access to high-quality public health education and provides data on the training of the public health workforce.
- Show information about the TRAIN Data Dictionary, tailored datasets, and additional available data options in TRAIN.
- Describe how to obtain access to the TRAIN datasets and request additional data from TRAIN.
Core Competencies for Public Health
Also on April 10th, PHF will host a Breakfast Roundtable on Core Competencies for Public Health from 7:30-8:30 am. This roundtable will focus on research needs and opportunities related to the Council on Linkages’ Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals. Join the discussion at Roundtable #16 in the Bluegrass Ballroom 2.
