The Public Health Foundation (PHF) and the
American Public Health Association (APHA) have worked collaboratively to develop a
tool to help health departments assess and improve performance of their policy activities. The tool is geared towards health departments that are familiar with performance measurement and are already engaged in policy activities. This is the first tool to focus explicitly on performance measurement for public health policy.

The tool provides examples of measures a health department may use to evaluate the sucess of its policy activities. Using the tool as a guide, health departments can also
download a table template and fill-in their specific activities and measures.
