Materials Available for October Council on Linkages Meeting
  
Join the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) on Monday, October 2, 2017 from 2-4pm EDT for its third meeting of the year. This meeting will be held virtually and will feature a presentation from Council on Linkages member, the Association for Community Health Improvement, on building population health competencies in hospitals and health systems. In addition, the meeting will include a discussion about demonstrating the impact of the Council on Linkages, and updates on activities related to the Academic Health Department Learning Community and Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals will be provided. The final agenda and meeting materials are now available on the meeting webpage. All public health professionals interested in learning more about Council on Linkages initiatives are welcome to attend, but registration is required. Connect with the Council on Linkages at the 2017 APHA Annual Meeting
  
The work of the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) will be well-represented during the American Public Health Association (APHA) 2017 Annual Meeting, with presentations related to the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals, Academic Health Department Learning Community, and more. Participate in any of the following sessions to engage with the Council on Linkages and learn more:

Council on Linkages Representative a Featured Speaker During Future of Population Health Award Webinar
  
Join the Public Health Foundation for a webinar on Monday, October 23, 2017, from 1:30-2:30pm EDT highlighting the 2017 winner of the Future of Population Health Award, the University of Vermont (UVM) Medical Center. Led by the Association for Community Health Improvement's representative to the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice, Penrose Jackson, Director of Community Health Improvement, and Chief Medical Officer Stephen Leffler, UVM Medical Center collaborated with local organizations to establish Harbor Place. Harbor Place is a motel where patients who have recently been discharged from the hospital have a safe place to stay, saving the UVM Medical Center more than $1 million over a two-year period. Ms. Jackson will be joined by Dr. Leffler as featured speakers for the webinar. CDC's E-Learning Institute Fellowship Application Open
  
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) E-learning Institute Fellowship is offered through a partnership between CDC, a Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice member, and the Public Health Foundation, to empower education and training professionals with limited experience developing e-learning products to improve their course development skills. During this no cost, six-month online fellowship, participants will create an online training product, receive mentoring support from CDC and outside e-learning experts, collaborate with peers, and take part in online learning opportunities. Participants will also travel to the CDC offices in Atlanta, GA for an orientation and a final showcase event to present their e-learning products. The application period is now open through Friday, October 6, 2017. Learn more and apply today.
