The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) will be giving a presentation entitled “How to Focus your Training and Professional Development Efforts to Improve Your Board’s Skills to Govern and Lead” on September 7, 2011 from 8:30 am to 9:30 am MT. Participants will learn how to use the Prioritization Matrix (a Quality Improvement tool) to identify which Core Competencies may be needed by board of health members to meet today’s challenges. A similar session, tailored for public health professionals in general, will be presented at the American Public Health Association annual meeting on October 31, 2011 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am ET.
The Council on Linkages will be leading a session entitled “Academic Health Department Learning Community: A New Opportunity for Academic-Practice Collaboration” on November 1, 2011 from 8:30 am to 10:00 am ET. During the session, the Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community will meet in person for the first time. All participants will be provided with an opportunity to: learn more about AHDs; the AHD Learning Community; activities, strengths, and benefits of the Learning Community; and resources created or collected by the community.
