Date: 12/5/2011

The Academic Health Department (AHD) Learning Community will meet via conference call on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 2:30-4 pm EST to continue discussing how to develop, sustain, and expand successful AHDs.

Building on the success of the AHD Learning Community’s first in-person meeting during the American Public Health Association Annual Meeting in November, this conference call meeting will highlight the creation and growth of two AHDs. The story of the Jefferson County (AL) Department of Health (JCDH), a well-established AHD with numerous academic partnerships, will be presented by Bryn Manzella, MPH, JCDH’s Director of Quality Improvement. Charles Hamilton, DrPH, MPH, Director of the University of Tennessee’s MPH Program, will share insight into the development of the formal partnership between the Knox County (TN) Health Department and the University of Tennessee’s Department of Public Health earlier this year. Learning Community members are encouraged to bring questions and to share their own AHD success stories as well. Additional details about the meeting are available on the meeting webpage.

The AHD Learning Community is a national community of public health professionals engaged in knowledge sharing and collaboration to support the use of AHDs to improve community health. This meeting is an opportunity to interact with public health professionals from across the country interested in learning more about AHDs. All are welcome to attend. To find out how you can become involved, contact Kathleen Amos at [email protected].
