Newly Released ACIP Video Describes How United States Vaccine Recommendations are Developed
The authorization of COVID-19 vaccines and boosters increased attention on the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) and highlighted misunderstandings among the public about vaccines. PHF, in partnership with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), recently released an engaging video explaining ACIP’s role in developing vaccine recommendations and the process of ACIP vaccine recommendation development and approval. Strong Flu Recommendations are Critical This Flu Season
The US is experiencing early, increasing, and concerning flu activity, including increased patient hospitalization rates. Vaccine uptake is down from previous years, particularly among some higher-risk populations like pregnant women. 2023 Public Health Improvement Training Call for Abstracts
The annual Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT), a professional development experience featuring a series of hands-on, skill-building performance improvement workshops, will hold in-person trainings on May 8, 2023, and virtual trainings from June 5-7, 2023. PHIT is now inviting workshop and topic submissions through December 8, 2023. Workshops are sought in diverse content areas with an emphasis on “how to” and skill development.

Public Health AmeriCorps is a partnership between AmeriCorps and CDC to support the new generation of public health leaders and provide health department and community organizations with needed capacity to serve their jurisdictions.
