Celebrate World AIDS Day this December 1st |
|
World AIDS Day gives us the opportunity to stand together to remember the history of HIV/AIDS, examine where it is today, and look towards the future of HIV/AIDS. It is a day where we look at the HIV/AIDS epidemic in relationship to specific populations and other diseases. For example, according to the Veterans Health Administration , homeless veterans have a higher prevalence of infection with HIV and viral hepatitis compared to non-homeless veterans - up to three times more. Focusing on at-risk populations for prevention and care gives us direction for the future and helps to guide our efforts to end the epidemic. |
