Lymphatic Filariasis (LF) is a disabling parasitic disease caused by worms that are spread from person-to-person by the bite of infected mosquitoes. It is a leading cause of disability globally in which more than 120 million persons are infected and 44 million suffer from chronic complications such as lymphedema and hydrocele.

CDC has identified Lymphatic Filariasis as a Winnable Battle. Promoting evidence-based programs and cost-effective strategies as prevention tactics will both have significant impacts on eliminating Lymphatic Filariasis from the Americas.
