​This guide can be used to establish a clinical appointment track in graduate public health schools and programs. It was developed in 1993, after the 1988 Institute of Medicine (IOM) report "The Future of Public Health" was published. The IOM report noted that schools of public health (SPH) had become isolated from public health practice.
