Join the Council on Linkages for March 1st Meeting

Mark your calendars to join the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) for its next meeting on March 1, 2024, from 2-4pm EST. Hear about the latest initiatives from the Council on Linkages, such as the proposed development of a new Retention and Recruitment Learning Community, updates about the Academic Health Department Learning Community, and insights into the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies). Additionally, learn from our guest presenters who will discuss how their health departments utilize the Core Competencies to strengthen the workforce. AHD Webinar: Ask Me Anything - Academic Health Department Partnerships Archive Available

Partnerships between health departments and academic institutions enhance the capacity of the organizations involved and offer a variety of benefits. In this archived webinar, a brief overview of Academic Health Department (AHD) partnerships and the AHD Learning Community were provided and then the microphone was turned over to participants to ask anything they’d like to know about AHD partnerships. Meeting participants were encouraged to share their own experiences and expertise. Watch the archive to learn more.

Join the Public Health Foundation at this year’s Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT)! There will be an in-person mini-PHIT May 20-21, 2024, in New Orleans, LA, and a virtual conference June 3-5, 2024. PHIT features a series of hands-on, skill-building workshops and networking opportunities intended to help professionals renew their commitment to performance excellence and inspires new insight long after the convening ends. Learn more and register!

The call for abstracts for the American Public Health Association's (APHA) 2024 Annual Meeting and Expo is now open! This year’s theme is, "Building Trust in Public Health and Science." The APHA Annual Meeting and Expo will take place in Minneapolis, MN on Oct. 27-30, 2024. Registration and housing will open in June 2024. Submit an abstract for oral and poster sessions and APHA Learning Institutes to present in-person in Minneapolis by March 29, 2024!

Mark your calendars for the next National Board of Public Health Examiners Wednesday Webinar Series on March 13, 2024, at 3 p.m. EST. The upcoming session titled, ”Science to Advance Social Change via a Punk Rock Ethos” will discuss promoting health and equity through past education, lived experiences, and community service, with a global perspective. Delta Omega, the public health honorary society, is hosting a series of webinars about the innovative approaches schools and programs of public health are taking to bring practice into the classroom. Webinar topics include mentoring programs, health equity, integrative learning experiences and more. Learn more and register!
