​​​The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) convened for a meeting on June 24, 2024, from 2-4pm EDT. This meeting provided updates on initiatives of the Council on Linkages, including the new Retention and Recruitment Learning Community, the Academic Health Department Learning Community, and the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals. Additionally, attendees learned from guest speakers from the Public Health Advocacy Consensus Task Force (PH-ACT) about their efforts to identify the essential advocacy skills needed to strengthen the public health workforce and from the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) about a new toolkit and trainings to support the implementation of the 2023 Applied Epidemiology Competencies in state, tribal, local, and territorial jurisdictions.
