The Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) convened for a meeting on September 16, 2024, from 2-4pm EDT. This meeting provided updates on initiatives of the Council on Linkages, including the new Retention and Recruitment Learning Community, the Academic Health Department Learning Community, and the Core Competencies for Public Health Professionals (Core Competencies). Additionally, meeting participants heard from Dr. Andrea Young, the Director of the Division of Workforce Development withtin the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Public Health Infrastructure Center about current priorities and future directions. Discussion also focused on the need for a Council on Linkages Representative for the Public Health Advocacy Consensus Task Force (PH-ACT), the addition of a Vice Chair for Council Leadership, and the timeline for review of the Core Competencies.
