Interested in exploring the benefits of being part of the TRAIN Community? The map below highlights the states that are already part of the network. In addition to these states, the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and CDC’s Division of Global Migration and Quarantine are national level affiliates. The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) is coming soon and currently developing its network portal. If you are in a state or organization that is not currently part of the TRAIN network, we welcome you to register on TRAIN as a learner and explore joining the TRAIN Community. If, on the other hand, your state or organization is already part of the TRAIN Community, we invite you to explore how you could partner internally and maximize the features and tools TRAIN provides.

Joining the TRAIN Community

Developed in 2003 in response to state requests for training that would efficiently prepare workers and track training for emergencies, TRAIN, through collaborative partnerships, is an evolving learning solution that ensures access to high quality education and training in a variety of formats. Currently comprised of 28 states and three national organizations (Medical Reserve Corps, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), CDC’s Division of Global Migration and Quarantine, and coming soon, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA)), TRAIN is rapidly expanding and has surpassed 600,000 registered learners, with nearly 4,000 providers of training having posted more than 28,000 trainings. By joining the TRAIN network, affiliates (states, national organizations, public health training centers, and/or educational institutions who have purchased a customized TRAIN portal) can improve their efficiency and effectiveness in delivering and managing workforce development efforts to create a more prepared public health workforce.

Benefits of becoming part of the TRAIN Community include:
  • Track participation in competency-based training
  • Generate reports about public health workforce preparedness
  • Save dollars and avoid duplication of effort
  • Share resources with other TRAIN affiliates
  • Identify gaps in training
  • Establish a training curriculum using existing trainings
  • Send rapid announcements to all registered learners in your jurisdiction
To learn more about TRAIN, inquire about how to bring TRAIN to your public health agency, organization, or academic institution and explore the TRAIN eBook! If your organization would like a web demonstration of TRAIN, please contact the TRAIN Team.

Partnering with an Existing TRAIN Affiliate

If your state or organization is already a TRAIN affiliate (highlighted in yellow in the map above), there are opportunities for you to maximize the use of tools and features offered in TRAIN through partnering. By developing a partnership with an affiliate, you can post courses, conferences, and webinars that reach a wide variety of public health and emergency preparedness specialists for free, which saves money and time by avoiding the costs of traveling and duplication of effort. More importantly, you can identify appropriate and necessary training for your workforce, register learners, and track learner training. By tracking the learning progress of workers in your organization, you can identify gaps in training and formulate a plan to address these needs, while creating a stronger, more prepared workforce. Through collaborative partnerships between public health agencies, organizations, and academic institutions, the benefits of TRAIN can be shared across jurisdictional and organizational lines.  For more information about TRAIN, explore the TRAIN E-Book.
