According to CDC research, a small number of states often account for a large proportion of the public health burden from Winnable Battles and other health disparities.  For example, 50% of all HIV diagnoses occur in just 5 states.  Similarly, 50% of obese adults reside in only 9 states.

Use resources from the Public Health Foundation’s (PHF) Learning Resource Center (LRC) to fight Winnable Battles in your state.  Increase immunization rates and prevent vaccine-preventable diseases with the most up-to-date vaccination recommendations from Epidemiology and Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases, 12th Edition (“Pink Book”).  Ensure your patients avoid healthcare-associated infections by practicing proper hand hygiene -- use Hand Hygiene Posters and Buttons to remind staff of the importance of washing hands regularly. Teach children in your community how to lead healthy lifestyles with the new set of national standards for nutrition, physical activity, and screen time for early care and education programs in Preventing Childhood Obesity in Early Care and Education Programs.
