Supporting performance management efforts, the Public Health Foundation (PHF) is excited to announce the launch of the updated Performance Management Toolkit! Designed to focus on the performance management needs of health departments, explore updated resources and tools no matter where you are on your performance management journey.

New Language Filter Available in TRAIN Course Catalog


As part of PHF’s ongoing efforts to enhance the TRAIN Learning Network (TRAIN) for learners, a new Language Filter has been added to the TRAIN course catalog. This filter allows you to find training based on your preferred language. When browsing the course catalog, users can locate this language filter in the left-hand menu of filter options. Explore the new Language Filter.

Join PHF this October for the virtual 2024 Public Health Learning Forum focused on "Workforce Development In Action." Kick off the event with an opening session featuring Leslie Ann Dauphin, PhD, Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Public Health Infrastructure Center, and Steven J. Stack, MD, MBA, Kentucky’s Commissioner for Public Health and current ASTHO President, among others. The event is free and all are welcome. Rebuilding the Workforce: CDC Division of Workforce Development – Current and Future Directions


As the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice (Council on Linkages) continues to focus on rebuilding the public health workforce, its September meeting offered an opportunity to learn more about the priorities and directions of the Division of Workforce Development (DWD) within the CDC Public Health Infrastructure Center. Andrea Young, PhD, Director of DWD, shared updates on the Division’s efforts to recruit, train, develop, and retain the public health workforce, as well as key collaborations with partner organizations. New Foundational Public Health Services Training Available


Interested in better understanding the Foundational Public Health Services (FPHS) framework and how it can be used to transform the governmental public health system? A new 3-module e-Learning series, developed by ASTHO in partnership with PHF and the Rocky Mountain Public Health Training Center, is now available! Strengthening Advocacy Skills Within the Public Health Workforce


Advocacy is a critical skill as the public health field continues to focus on rebuilding the workforce in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and in preparation for the future. However, studies show that public health professionals may be underprepared to engage in advocacy. To support the public health workforce in developing advocacy skills, PHF and the Council on Linkages recently endorsed the Public Health Advocacy Consensus Task Force (PH-ACT), a collaborative effort to define advocacy, identify key advocacy skills, and draft guidance for public health schools and programs teaching advocacy.
