Length of Time in Public Health:

  • 4 years

  • Governmental public health
Relationship Building Experience:
  • I have been involved in building relationships between academic health professions institutions and public health practice organizations
About Me:

I am a pediatric pulmonologist with an MPH and a certificate in health care administration. A little more than three years ago I took over as the part time Medical Director of Kalamazoo County Health and Community Services (KCHCS; the local health department) and continue in that role today. I retired from our new medical school 2 months ago after 25 years of academic practice but continue to have significant relationships with it through hosting a one month public health rotation for primary care residents. We anticipate adding nursing students, MPH students, and medical students to our educational program and will be seeking a more formal affiliation with Western Michigan University College of Health and Human Services and Western Michigan University School of Medicine especially as the demand for practical training in public health grows and our current resources are stretched. The one month public health rotation has been very well received by residents as well as KCHCS staff and continues to evolve.
