Advancing the public health workforce to achieve organizational excellence
TRAIN Data

Overview

TRAIN is the nation’s premier learning network for professionals who protect the public’s health. TRAIN is a unique web-based learning management solution that provides a robust clearinghouse of on-site training and distance learning opportunities available in local, state, and national jurisdictions. With over 2.5 million registered learners, and 29,000 courses coming from more than 4,000 providers of training, TRAIN’s database can be used to learn about the current public health workforce skills/competence and the way the workforce is trained as measured by the topics and subjects of the courses public health professionals have taken.

TRAIN offers access to three tailored datasets (datasets consist of all of the data that can be used for addressing specific research questions). The three tailored TRAIN datasets that can be utilized by researchers are:
Recognizing that research needs can extend beyond these three datasets, PHF invites researchers to request customized data from TRAIN to meet specific needs. Requested data can include any fields in TRAIN related to workforce questions, but cannot include any potentially identifying information.

If you are interested in accessing these datasets or requesting customized data, download and print a copy of the TRAIN Data Use Agreement. Read, sign, and fax or email the completed TRAIN Data Use Agreement to:
