Academic health departments (AHDs) are formed by the affiliation of health departments and academic institutions providing education in the health professions. Health departments and academic institutions may collaborate informally or may establish more formal affiliations through the signing of a partnership agreement, such as an affiliation agreement or a memorandum of understanding. Partnership agreements may be comprehensive or more limited, addressing a single aspect of education, research, or practice. Samples of such agreements, along with example guidelines for partnership, are presented below to assist organizations in developing their own formal partnerships.
