The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) is holding its ninth annual National Tribal Public Health Summit, May 22-24, 2018 in Prior Lake, Minnesota. The theme for the 2018 Summit is "Balance, Harmony, Culture, Health," and will address key American Indian and Alaska Native health priorities. The Public Health Foundation (PHF), with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, will host a pre-summit institute on Making Your Strategic Plan an Action and Results-Driven Process. Draft AHD Development Model Available for Public Comment
Building on the academic health department (AHD) concept paper developed by the Council on Linkages Between Academia and Public Health Practice in 2010, and the experiences shared by AHD Learning Community members over the past seven years, a draft model of AHD development has been created and is now available for public comment. Share your feedback and suggestions related to the draft model by April 30, 2018 to help ensure that it best reflects the reality of AHD development. |

The Solvability and Control Matrix explores and assesses process problems to determine which can be easily solved and which should be brought to a quality improvement team for consideration. The Aetna Foundation recently released a request for applications for its 2018 Cultivating Healthy Communities Grant Program. The program seeks to catalyze measurable improvements in community health, with an emphasis on addressing the social determinants of health in under-served communities and populations.
