Quality Improvement Tools for Decision Making
These tools ease the process of decision-making, allowing individuals and teams to explore potential options and select effective solutions in an objective way.
  • Action SWOT Analysis - Use identified strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to identify action steps
  • Bow Tie Diagram - Create a roadmap of causes, controls, impacts, and preparedness steps in place to minimize the impacts of high-risk situations
  • Consensus Decision Making Matrix - Divide an issue into primary and secondary components as a framework for achieving consensus
  • Diagnostic Force Field Analysis - Expand a Force Field Analysis to include relative strength of drivers and restrainers
  • Electronic Prioritization Matrix - Use the formulas in the electronic template to translate multiple comparison decisions into a prioritized list for action planning or consensus building
  • Multivoting - Narrow a large list of possibilities to a short list of priorities or a final decision
  • PICK Chart - Rank projects by considering their level of difficulty (amount of scarce resources required) and the level of payoff (improvement gain)
