Today, our public health department's SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analyses must also consider their impact on the social sector of their communities. To accomplish this crucial component, we need to understand how our current strategies are impacting outcomes in our communities by examining how our health department addresses systematic inequalities and oppression.
Adding inclusion and equity to our SWOT Analysis, making the analysis a SWOTIE, will assist health departments to integrate inclusion and equity into their work at all levels.
In this archived webinar, presenters discussed how to use a SWOTIE analysis and the SWOTIE Action Prioritization Matrix to help organizations address health equity internally and with the communities they serve. Presenters also took a practical look at how the SWOTIE methods and tools were used by the Detroit Health Department.
